“Tumko Dekha To Aisa Laga” is the title of this video installation, borrowed from the song lyric “Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga,” which describes the protagonist’s feelings upon seeing his beloved. The romantic lyric is repurposed here to reflect the artist’s experience while observing the city of Varanasi. Developed after a six-month stay in Varanasi, this work embodies three distinct visual contexts playing simultaneously: a water sequence, an interview section, and a Bollywood song. Interestingly, the muted the audio in all the videos creating a purely visual representation and that deliberately avoids a cohesive narrative, instead emerging as a series of random, haphazard events.
