Automatic investigates the unpredictable yet deeply personal process of language acquisition. Through interactive encounters, the artist presents a bag filled with thin tomes in Bangla, Hindi, English, and Gujarati. Participants blindly select a book, engaging with the serendipitous nature of linguistic assimilation. This randomness reflects how language is shaped by birthplace, culture, and personal experience while evolving into a conscious choice over time.

Each book, adorned with playful gibberish in distinct typographies, mimics the gradual transition from unfamiliar symbols to meaning —a process integral to learning a language. By utilizing Adobe Illustrator to generate “Lorem Ipsum” text, to underscores the mechanistic aspects of language formation, balancing spontaneity with structure. Automatic ultimately invites viewers to reflect on their own linguistic journeys, revealing the delicate interplay between chance and intention in the act of communication.
