“New Words” is a series of text-based artworks that challenge the notion of linguistic novelty, arguing that despite superficial changes, underlying themes such as thoughts, emotions, and power dynamics remain constant. By sourcing words from the media. coverage of the Israel-Palestine conflict, the series reflects on how the meanings of words evolve over time. Each word is prefixed with “NEW,” highlighting this evolution. Against the backdrop of ongoing conflicts, the series weaves narratives deeply intertwined with the realities of war and human experience, emphasising that while words may remain the same, their implications and meanings shift with societal changes.
